4th MAP Seminar Report

Speaker: Dr. Yamanoi, Dr. Fu and Dr. Kuroe


We conducted our fourth MAP seminar on November 12, 2021. More than 20 members participated in this seminar. There were three members who presented their studies in English, Dr. Yamanoi, Dr. Fu and Dr. Kuroe.

The first was Dr. Yamanoi, whose study was on the relationship between the occurrence of double low time intraoperatively and postoperative delirium. Many people are first exposed to the concept of double low time, which Dr. Yamanoi defines as the time when intraoperative MAP <75 mmHg and BIS <45 occur simultaneously. The results were that the longer the intraoperative double low time, the higher the incidence of postoperative delirium tended to be. Many students had some questions about whether MAP is defined as higher and time grouping, which Dr. Yamanoi answered. We are interested in this novel topic and look forward to more information from Dr.Yamanoi next time.

Next was Dr. Fu, whose study was on the difference in outcome of AKI diagnosis using different diagnostic benchmarks. Her study focused on the use of creatinine and urine volume criteria in the KDIGO guidelines and the different ways of calculating urine volume to produce different diagnostic criteria, which can lead to large differences in the incidence and prognosis of postoperative AKI. Based on the questions raised by other participants, we think it would be interesting to confirm the results of the study in other different populations, if the same results were obtained in different populations, and we need to look at the causes of death and the near and long-term recovery of renal function, which may be more useful for the study.

Finally Dr. Kuroe presented his research: Integrated pulmonary index can predict respiratory compromise in high-risk patients in the post-anesthesia care unit. His results suggest that IPI can predict the occurrence of RC in high-risk patients in the PACU. Dr. Kuroe’s presentation caused a very intense discussion, and everyone asked questions about their points of interest, and Dr. Kuroe answered everyone’s questions carefully.

Three PhDs presented their own research in this seminar and the other participants asked questions of their own interest about their presentations. I think this is a good opportunity to present your own research and to hear others’ opinions to think more deeply about your own research. I am sure the next seminar will be even better.
